Dang it

Dang it - 11/27/2011 2:25 AM

Thought I was shooting a doe about 20 min after sunset an it turned out to be a spike buck, so I used up my gun buck tag. I learned lesson, never shoot does after sundown.

RHH, I would suggest a nice pair of binos; you can size one up fairly easy with 'em.

Shot a double once, wasn't my intention, but it ended my season quick. hopefully you had the appropriate tags.

I have a lifetime license which includes all tags, but only one buck allowed with gun. I still can shoot a buck with my bow however.

most of us have had something like that happen, I accidentally shot a yearling doe during a doe hunt because it was low light and she was on a clear cut mountain side where I had nothing to compare her too so I could get a better idea of size. I would have sworn up and down she was a mature barren doe but it wasn't until we got to her that we realized she wasn't full grown. She did have some of the best venison I'd ever tasted though, it was venison veal which is what you have there. Just remember veal cost big bucks in the stores and resteraunts.

Tough luck, Hank, but it was a good shot and he'll be 'tastee'.

My binos are as important as my ammo. Enjoy the meat.
