light loads for 45 colt. PLINKERS. load help? - 03/14/2005 12:29 PM

friend of mine has purchesed a blackhawk in 7.5 brl and he would like me to load him some plinkers up. i have a 2 lbs of unique powder on hand. will this work good for a plinker load? he wants to stay with 180 to 200 grain bullets. do you guys have any thoughts on wich cast bullet company to go with?

With Unique, a 200 grain cast bullet would require about 8 grains of powder for a 900 - 1000 fps load. Very low recoil, easy to shoot all day.

Try http://www.pennbullets.com/45/ for a good selection of cast bullets for the 45. These are good bullets and you can't beat the price.

I use HS6 but I buy the D&J or Oregon Trail bullets, you can get both from Midway.

I'm with Stush...Penn Bullets makes a great product. I shot them in everything from light practice loads to stiff hunting loads.

Make that three votes for Penn bullets. I'm still working my way through my first 1000, but so far the results have been very good.
