Thompson Contender front sight removal

Thompson Contender front sight removal - 01/21/2018 11:51 PM

I just acquired a Thompson Contender with a .223 and 30-30 barrel (both with scopes). I have removed the front sight so that the gun fits better into the holster. Do I need to cover the tapped screw holes in the barrel or is it fine to leave them open?

Leaving them open invites dirt, grime and moisture; if you need some of those "plugger screws" let me know how many and I will send you some.

Thanks Gregg! PM sent. This will be my first year hunting with a pistol (other than a few small game hunts with a .22) I can see how the Contender can be addictive. With so many choices in calibers I can see this being my go to hunting gun. Can't wait for the groundhogs to start poking their heads out this spring! Until then,I will be shooting the .223 barrel as much as I can at the local range.

After reviewing some of the forums here, I decided I should invest in a quality shooting bipod. My Primos trigger stick should be here Tuesday. Thanks to all that post, your knowledge is invaluable!
