New hunting calibre for Desert Eagle - 429 DE - 11/08/2018 10:06 AM

Just came across article about a new cartridge for Desert Eagles released by Magnum Research, the 429 DE.

The cartridge is a 50AE necked down to 429. Meant to give about a 25% boost over .44MAG. (Similar to the old 440 Cor Bon). While the articles emphasizes higher velocities, I think hunters will be more interested in how it handles heavy for caliber projectiles in the 300gr+ range.

Any chance any of our in gun writer members could get a hold of one and do a review from a hunter's perspective?

Personally I do not want to carry around a Desert Eagle. Yes similar to the 440 Cor bon. Interesting to see how this is accepted

The standard DE is certainly something I'd be reluctant to haul through the woods. Fortunately they have 2 lightweight models, the L5 & L6. I have an L5 on order and will report on it when it arrives. Unfortunately international ordering of firearms is an expensive and lengthy process. Our local laws prohibit handguns of greater than 45 cal which is why I'm excited about the new cartridge. (I would have preferred 50AE necked down to 45, but I'm happy they have developed something apart from the standard .44)
