Well it was a nice way to begin the new year for sure! I slipped back into a creek bottom this morning and setup well before daylight in hopes of bagging a doe with my pistol. I was there maybe 20 minutes when I seen one right at daybreak. It looked like a nice size nanny so I took aim and dropped the hammer. It was about a 65yard shot and from the tell tale kick, I connected. I watched as she ran about 25 yards and rolled up. (that 7-08 is a bad lil round

)

I let her lay awhile and slipped out to check on her. As I walked up I was a little disappointed that it was instead a little spike.

I am still very excited and its a trophy to me because its my first, but I really didnt want to shoot any little bucks on this property.It was just so early and I probably should have waited for a little more light. I was so pumped it was hard to hold back! I couldnt believe how hard it was to steady that handgun on just a doe. It felt like I had a bow in my hand I was so excited!!!

I will just get me a doe next time!

Either way it was a great day and I got some fresh meat on ice!!!

Good job, now you are hooked forever! My first deer with a handgun was about the same story, just legal light and could not wait any longer POW with the same results. Spike!

That is the very reason I gave up the "long guns" and started packing the "short irons".

Yeah if it had been a 140 class buck I would have been shaken so bad I would have just thrown the damn thing at him and hoped for a hit to the temple.

CONGRATS and a fitting trophy it is, but then I consider any game taken with a Handgun to be a Trophy.

Yep life as you knew it is OVER. Nothing else will produce that same rush you got today with your First Handgun Deer, well except maybe that 140 class buck you see through your Handgun Scope.

Yep you will remember it forever, I know I still remember the first one I shot with a Handgun, and everyone since too.
