I don't know if the 25-06 will work as a deer cartridge in Michigan,,,but it works pretty darn well in South Carolina...and Wyoming...and Montana....and

well I guess it would work in Michigan

As long as the state regulations allow you to use a 25-06 it will do a great job on deer.

I think that it might bounce off a big Michigan deer. I'd opt for a bigger caliber like a 416 Rigby! I've killed three with a 243 so I think the 25-06 will be even better, not too mention it give a real nice long range trajectory!

Although not a handgun, I have shot a number of PA Whitetails with the 25-06 in a rifle and it is an awesome deer caliber.

In Michigan that would be legal up north where you can use a rifle. It would be illegal in the southern Michigan shotgun zone. In southern Michigan it has to be a straight walled cartridge

Thanks all.
I can't make up my mind 70-30 waters or 25-06. This would be in the contender or Encore pistols.

I have a Winchester 94AE carbine levergun in 7-30 Waters. What a great deer rifle. I think a T/C contender in this cartridge would do yo very well. Just a side note. The Hornady 7 mm 120 V-Max and Hornady 7mm 120 Single shot pistol bullet are the same bullet.

Otherwise, you can shoot the Speer 130 grain FP or Nosler 120 Ballistic Tip. I recommend AA 4064 as an excellent powder for the Waters.

The 7-30 Waters can be either 'Tender or Encore, where 25-06 is Encore only. The only factory 7-30 Waters loading, by Federal, doesn't have the best bullet for the velocity range of a pistol. Have you thought of the 7mm-08 in the Encore? Good all-around cartridge, flat trajectory, lots of factory loadings, not bad recoil. FWIW, Rod.

I'll second that motion!! Or a 30-30 in Contender if you really want a selection of factory offerings.

Hell yes it'll work on deer anywhere. It works on Elk too but I prefer the 257 AI in Encore for that...
