HUnlee sure like 223,,,7-30 water and 375 Windchester contender butt Contender fraime canot hold up to 308,,,,30-06 or 270 like Encore can!!!!!!!THis is why Hunlee has been thinking of the Encore!!!!!!!!High pressure calliber on a Encore fraime with 3-12x power Burris!!!!!!Long rang shooting for Hunlee!!!!Please tell Hunlee about your opinion an thankyou!!!!!HUnlee like blue or silvery fraime an barrel but the new 3-12x power Burris that came to Hunlee is blue!!!!

A 15" 308 encore was my summer project 2 years ago. It had a 3-12 burris on top with grand slam 3 ring mounts, 2.25lb trigger and the stickky ruber grips. It was an amazing shooting rig. I could shoot 1/2" groups with several different powders and bullets. It would shoot just about any load combination I tried. At the range it was about as good as it could get for me. Since then I tried a 30-06 barrel and a 7mm-08 but wasent nearly as impressed with them. For my 2 cents worth the 308 is a safe bet.

I was so happy with my 'Tender that I had to get an Encore.
I shoot a 6.5x284 and a 45-70 and I like both of them.
I'm saving for a heavy barrel 308 for my next project.
I thought about a 7-08, but I always shoot the 7-30 in the 'Tender and I already load for the 7mm Mauser in a long gun. I kinda like to do things different, so I think my 7mm Encore barrel will be the Mauser......but everybody NEEDS a 308!!

308 wood be about the best calliber for Encore and for Hunlee???

My opinion is that you are building an arsenal, Hunlee. You are going to have a handgun for each of your 12 children. I am going to get out of sales and start bartending so I can have many guns like Hunlee, many children like Hunlee, and feed the Mrs. many high-caloric meals so I have 275 lb. wife like Hunlee!

Me have second thoughts about Hunlees predicument and have come up with the barrel Hunlee must have and that be a deep throated 50 Alaskan. Hunlee could then shoot 750 grain bullits a long way and tip over just about anything

Hunlee forgets guns with speed of lighting and thunder of gods need muzzle break or Hunlee will be the one to break in half.

350 Remington Magnum is most versatile cartridge when it comes to handloading. Can use Hornady 180 SSPB with reduced load of H4895 to make gun shoot like 35 Remington. Then Hunlee can increase powder charge and use 225 Sierra BT to make gun shoot like 358 Winchester for medium recoil and full power for loads for big elk and moose if he want to feed large wife and kids. 225 Nosler Partition make good elk and moose bullet for Hunlee.

350 Remington Magnum is first real short Magnum. Very easy to reload for. 350 Magnum just like 308 Winchester but only on steroids. Likes many different medium burning powders like IMR 4320, Ramshot TAC, H4895 and so on.

Hunlee needs to be strong and tough.

Hunlee needs to roll the dice and take a chance on something different. Otherwise, you might as well get a 50 BMG for what you want to accomplish. Enough said.

Hunlee need to sell guns and put a down payment on Black Hawk helicopter. Very good, multiple weapon choices, some with warp speed and all hit like thunder! Long range,too! 285 lb wife can pilot, Hunlee gunner and 12 younguns artillery specialists.

Hunlee Needs to look at the good old 308 win. Super efficient, and sky's the limit for reloding. Seen it topple a cow elk where she stood at a lasered 302 yards. It's got both the ZOOM-ZOOM & the BOOM-BOOM. I love mine!

For what you have in mind, I would get a .30-06. Great assortment of bullets for the handloader make this caliber very versatile. A second choice for me would be the .308 - doesn't give up a lot to the venerable 06 and uses powder very efficiently. Again, a wide selection of bullets. I've shot both of these at very long ranges - 600 yards and beyond - and they are inherently accurate.
