This has got to be the best Elk and big end game round going chambered in the Encore. I don't mean dangerous game, but game like moose, elk, nilqui ect.. If I didn't all ready have the 35-06 JDJ I would own this one in the encore. What do you think?

It's just a proprietary 9.3x62, which didn't need any improvement.

We all have our opinions… LOL… I just like the 375H&H. I also think there is a reason it has been around for 97 years.

I think the 35 Whelen (or in your case the 35-06 JDJ) is a GREAT round. If you are not going to shoot over a 200gr bullet… the 358 Win is VERY hard to beat in a 35cal in the Encore. I will shoot “tit for tat” with the 35 Whelen with the lighter bullets, or so my Hornady book indicates.

I'll take my 375-06 JDJ any day! They get hit...they drop. Just like that!

The 370 is a 9.3x66, a bit more than the 62. It comes very close to the .375 with less recoil. In Africa or a lot of European countries you can't pull the 35 Whelen .358 or 35-06 JDJ off the shelf. The 9.3x66 is very popular in these countries and if the airlines loses your ammo your hunt is not ruined.

Your probably not going to find the 9.3x66 in Africa either. Maybe a box of 9.3x62, if you are that worried shoot a 30-06.
