Leverevolution Ammo - 03/12/2010 7:07 PM

Has anyone ever shot this ammo out of a contender? I was thinking of trying it in my super 14 30-30 win. It seems like the pointed bullet and the hotter load may be better for shooting longer ranges. If anyone has tried this load the info would be much appreciated!

trad,

fired it in my daughter's Contender 16" carbine. Velocities were 50 fps SLOWER than the WW and Rem 150 factory out of the same barrel. Remember the LeverEvolution ammo was designed for the 24" barreled Marlin XLR series of guns. Accuracy was comparable (good to excellent) but NO better than the "much cheaper" standard factory loads. I've never had any problems with the factory stuff taking large game, deer and elk with the 30-30 Contender.

Thanks doc. I wondered how the barrel length would match up to the powder used in the Hornaday ammo. I am currently shooting Winchester super x in the 150 gr. with excellent accuracy. I guess I will stick with what will work. Thank you for your input!
