Congrats to me.. - 12/17/2010 12:59 AM

Ive officially missed my first animal with a handgun. But its a start. Just confused how I can run 25 .475 rounds through the the gun earlier at 50 yards with nice groups and them completely miss a hog 2 hours later at the same distance. Glad I like a challenge.

There's lots of room around 'em ;-)

Bet it was exciting tho.

It's not that they're hard to hit, it's just that they are easy to miss.

Everyone has done it, don't feel bad...

Ah, adrenaline...

Makes that normally steady hand shaky, once clear front post/crosshairs blurry, and on and on. I do love it so!

Keep after them!

You mean your suppose to hit them. I knew I was doing something wrong.

If a hunter claims to have never missed, it only means he/she hasn't hunted much. It happens to virtually everyone given enough time. Don't sweat it!

Been there, done that. I missed a nice deer last year with my 45 LC ruger. I played the shot back in my mind several times and when I mentioned the miss to my "Old" hunting buddy, the first words out of his mouth was,"Loose screw behind the trigger".
That was me. Can even remember seeing the front site now that I think it over.
Sorry for your miss. Good luck on the next one. Enjoy

Mike

We all miss, if you spend a lot of time hunting it's going to happen.

Hogs, especially if there is more than one, are some of the hardest critters to get on I've hunted. A buddy of my described his first encounter with them that they were squirting around all over the place. He's right. It has been my experience that the ability to miss an animal you should be capable of killing increases exponentially as they get closer. I usually make the hard shots but I sure have missed some easy ones.

My Grandpa Cottle used to say that it was a case of having the critter hung and skinned before I had him killed.
Happened to me this year at less than 30yrds.

I chalk it up to my new hand gunhunting addiction. Gotta crawl before you can walk.
