First blood.

Couple targets of opportunity when I went shootin' the other day. Bout 15 yards, which is as far as you can get and hit such tiny targets with the ole wore out Colt 45. Funny thing is, I tried to get some for a long time with my Single Six, never could get close enough to one, then these two kinda asked for it when I was out practicing with the 45.

Midbody first shot, head shot second.

1 shot 1 kill

Hey, two of my favorite pastimes, varmint shooting and 1911's although I don't usually equate the two. Unless you count that I usually have a 1911 on my hip when out varminting. Good job, and the little buggers are starting to pop around here now.

.22 Magnum

This one peeked at me from a few feet away

...and this one didn't learn

Bout 20 yds offhand, pretty proud of this one.

Came around a corner on the bluff, this one was lookin' at me, maybe 15 yds.

Bang! Tumble tumble tumble. I had to chuckle.

Yeah, gotta find some more squirrel "towns", don't want to exhaust the population.

Found one yesterday that was too close to the road for shooting, kinda fun to watch the little guys.

Six,

If you want to make sure to not exhaust, might want to avoid the ones that are starting to get fat. In another couple of months the fat ones will be skinny again, and you will have lots of little dumb ones running around.....

Nice. I love the single six. Nice goin' with the colt, too.

Fears about exhausting were unfounded, give 'em a couple weeks and the population explodes again.

Re: First blood. - 01/13/2012 6:54 AM

nice job and you know sometimes it's those old wore out colts you have to look out for. I have one I rebuilt with a vietnam surplus barrel with a sloppy bushing, a Caspian frame the Ithaca WWII vet slide and Wilson internals including an aluminum trigger and skeletonized hammer and that thing shouldn't work or shoot but it's a tack driver. Right now I have a bunch of rounds I loaded up with bulk LC bullets I had, they are 255gr cast rnfp and that thing will shoot.
