Packy vs Hogue grips...... - 01/17/2012 11:59 PM

Does anyone know if the Packy grips are wider than the Hogue grips? I bought a GP100 this weekend and I think Im wanting a wider grip for it .

If that came with the Monogrip from Hogue, you might try the Hogue Tamer even though the recoil is not that stout in the 357. The Tamer is a bit fatter than the Monogrip and I put one on my GeeP so that it feels the same as my SRH. I didn't like the feel of the Monogrip myself, too slim.

The tamer came on it , but it feels a bit too narrow for my mitts. Like you said S4 the recoil isnt a issue but I would like to fill my mitt up.

The Tamer and the Mono look the same, but the GeePs come from Ruger with the Mono. The Tamer is fatter than the Mono. Does your grip have the sorbathane (soft) insert on the back? It should feel spongy.

Cool, just wanted to make sure we are on the same page. Have you handled the old style Lett grips with the wood inserts that they used to come with? That is a nice handle, but I prefered the Tamers to match the SRH. You can still pick them up used or new old stock on the Ruger forum, or even ebite.

The Hogue Monogrip has made my S&W double actions easier to hit with double action than any grip I have tried. For years, I have been a Pachmayer fan, but the performance edge now goes to Hogue. Ideed, Massad Ayoob has reported on his own double action shooting results that indicate Hogue Monogrips are the way to go.

I honestly dont think I will get it back unless I replace it. Everything was returned but the GP100.
