460 200gr factory loads for hogs?

Time is limited for reloading so wondering if the 200 gr factory Hornady ammo will be a good choice for hogs?

Small hogs, yes. Any hog with some size, barring a brain shot, no way. Those bullets are really frangible in that load. They are good for small animals and/or thin skinned medium sized game, but I would steer clear of using them on hogs unless you plan to pass up on the big ones. I think that load is too light for caliber, personally.

How limited? If you have a few days there are a few places on-line that offer much better options.

Exactly. CorBon has a number of loads that are better suited as do a number of other ammunition manufacturers.

Can I beg your guys for some recomendations? I will have the opportunity at hogs from 200-400#.

CorBon makes a number of good loads. I have hunted with their 395 grain WFN load and I have some 325 grain A-frames loaded by CorBon I haven't tried yet.

This is whats left of a 200gr SST bullet fired from my S&W 460 into a whitetail buck. The recovered bullet weighed 149.6grs and shooting distance was about 40yds. I used this load to take a small pig, with a neck shot, and unless the shot was a broadside into the lungs I would think twice before using on a big boar..

the a frames are tops imho out of the 460, another great option if you're reloading yourself is get the barnes 250 gr bullet for the casull and load it in the 460. i opens better and more reliably than the pointed barnes loads to and it will hold together at 460 velocities.

You take it for what it's worth, I have killed a lot of big game with my .460 S&W ( Bears, Hawgs, Deer ) and I only use Barnes Bullets. I would use the .275 gr Barnes XPB they shoot really good groups in my gun, I have shot the .250gr and I didnt like their perfomace or the way they grouped, and this is just my opinion, others may love the 250's . I have taken shots out to 200yds with the .275 gr and killed Deer , one shot dead rite there!!! My son found a the bullet (.275gr Barnes) that I shot my buck with lodged in a small pine tree after going all the way thru the deer quarter toward me exited the rear ham and stuck in the tree, and the bullet looked like the commerical perfect mushroom all 4 pedals were in tact.
