Wrist pain?

Well I love the Taurus RB 454 casull, but I have been getting a lot of wrist pain the last few days after shooting it. I guess I'll have to reduce the load or sell it for something with less recoil. I tried to shoot it with my wrist brace on but I can't grip it with it on.

Sorry to hear that. The 45 Colt will do 90% of what the 454 can do, but with half the felt recoil. Just back 'er down a bit and have some fun.

If you take the 454 brass and load 10.5-11 grains of 231 or unique and a 255 cast, you'll love it. That should do about 1150 or so. Great all around load but you still have the option for horsepower if you decide. It doesn't have to go full throttle to be effective. The caliber does most of that. 1150 will go through anything you will find here in Kansas

Or, you can use .45 Colt brass, 8.5grs Unique and still kill most all critters in the lower 48.

You can use the 45 colt brass but then you get the nastiness at the end of the brass and could ring the cylinder if you don't clean well before going back to the full pressure loads. So I just keep it easy with Casull brass.....that and I have a bunch of Casull brass

Just found that out myself. 13.5 gr unique under a 260 gr cast, guessing around 1300 fps. Comfortable shooting in my SRH!

We have another thread going on this here somewhere. HS6 works well, as does Tightgroup. You can go to H or I4227 for loads between the low stuff and H110/296 type pressure. These all work superbly with jacketed bullets, and if you want to shoot lead you may need to tweek the hardness of the bullet some.

I know when I started playing with reduced pressure 454 loads, I had a lot of trepidation, that was totally unfounded. Plus, you can get by without the mega-mondo-super-duper two handed crimps, which will make brass last a lot longer and reduce the amount trimming you will have to do. Full house loads are exhilarating, reduced loads are just down right fun and enjoyable.

And see your doc, get a proper diagnosis, and treat it with some pain/anti-inflammatory meds and the future will be brighter.
