Proper way to clean revolver after shooting

Ok. I'm sure everyone here does this a little differently. What is the best way to clean your trusted revolver after a day at the range to protect the revolvers finish, function, and performance? Looking for a sequential step by step method from start to finish including cleaning/ lubing supplies used.
