help needed 6MM - 06/29/2010 3:24 AM

just bought a XP its chambered in 6mm BR. I also got a new bull barrel that has been bored for 6mm but has not been chambered yet. What chambering would you look at? Thought about 6mm Dasher but want more.

How about 243 Improved.

Or, if you want a lot more 6-284.

I heard alot of good about 6.5-284 but not much about 6-284. I was thinking about 243 IMP. Just wanted to see what others would come up with.

Appendix #1 will give some idea of maximum speed out of a 28.5” tube and as you can see, a 70 grain BT can reach 4,400 fps. Though my gun isn’t intended for heavy bullets, a 95 grain Nosler can eclipse 3,900 while the 100 grain Partition peaks around 3,800 fps.

I bet a barrel would last about 10 shots. might be fun for those 10 shots though.

What is the twist on your barrel?
Call Chuck on time frame.
I am pretty sure he picked up more work while helping officiate at the MOA Shoot last week.

I told him this morning on the phone there was a chance someone may be calling him about a 6-284.
He said he has two reamers (tight-neck and a no-turn).
Mine will be a no-turn.
Originally, it was a tight neck.
