$2 Thrift Store Walker - Portable Shooting Bench - 07/25/2010 7:45 PM

I bought a cheap-o folding walker at a thrift store for two bucks. I saw I could easily make a portable, folding, light weight shooting bench.

The construction is pretty obvious but if you want measurements, let me know?

As the aluminum frame was shiny, I did some fast camo painting tp cut the glare. The top is scrap wood that I glued part of a floor cushioning material from my workshop. The rods are wood dowels and simply slide in the handle rubber grips and are held pretty firmly.

In addition to the walker's standard adjustable legs, I added a unused clamp screw to make finer adjustments if needed.

This is for my .17HMR Rifle and Scoped Taurus Tracker-17 revolver and adjusted to a comfortable height to match a folding chair I use.

Haven't used it yet other than making neighbors nervous while I was testing it.

Good Hunting

Ernie, thanks for posting the pic URL. Somehow it wasn't working for me but I do have them in my picture gallery.

And I'll try to figure out what I"m doing wrong with the pix.

Looks great!

Home projects that cost little and work great, can't beat that.
