It can be hunting two different animals, or hunting and fishing...what has been your most enjoyable so far?
I limit to North America simply because just about every African hunt is a "combo" in some way.

Oh.....good question since I'm going to WY this fall. After some input here I may add something to the trip.

I have been very BLESSED to have hunted antelope and mule deer on one trip; two of the most coveted western big game animals. In Wyoming!
Plus, usually for free, you can add prairie dogs and coyotes, if you are in the right area.
Check it out, Danny!
Give Ernie a holler; he can steer you into the correct quadrant, and tell you how to apply for the tags.

If you are including S.E. Alaska my vote goes to spring Black Bear & fishing. Typical day: wake up about 8am from a great nights sleep in your cozy cabin aboard a 83' power yacht, take a hot shower, breakfast will be ready. After breakfast, jump on the 26' guided and rigged up fishing boat(s)and fish the open ocean for kings, halibut and ling cod. Watch the orcas and humpbacks while eating a box lunch and back to the yacht by 3pm. Get cleaned up and your hunting gear layed out, until the gourmet dinner is ready, after dinner, grab your gear, jump on on of the 14'power skifts and cruise the bay shore for feeding bears, (see a average of 4 a day),hunt till 8pm. Back on the yacht, smoke a stogie on the fan tail as you watch bald eagals land and roost in the 200' tall pine trees along the shore, play cards, sit on the leather sofa and watch a movie and make excuses why you lost that monster fish and how the wind swirled on you and blew your stalk on that 12' blackie. The thing that I like most about this trip is that there is no "down" time. You are either doing somthing FUN, eating or relaxing. I can't wait for May to get here.
Don't confuse shooting with hunting. Shooting is a game, hunting is a sport.

here in the pacific NW bear and cougar season run through both deer and elk season and depending on where your hunting you can transfer from either deer or elk into the other. This can be mulies, benchlegs, blacktail or columbian whitetail deer and then Rocky Mtn, Cascade or Roosevelt elk. In the spring we have black bear and turkey, the southern and eastern part of the state are excellent for both. As for fishing there are many world famous waters, in the spring you have the tail end of the winter steelhead runs, spring chinook and coho, and the fall you have the end of the summer run of steelies and the fall salmon runs. If you wanted to go in the off season cougar is open year round in most areas but hard to hunt with no dogs but fall bear starts the beginning of august as does our pronghorn season but the antelope tags are hard to draw and then their is normally excellent summer steelhead fishing in most parts of the state.

Since you didn't mention "how many hunts" a combo hunt is...........I'd go for caribou, moose, bear, and ocean fishing in AK

Living in Wyoming I got to hunt antelope, deer, & elk with my Encore. Not exactly a combo hunt as it was spread out over about a 4-6 week period. Tanked on antelope & elk. Got a deer.

Bear hunting in AK would definitely have better success rates than here in OR but I don't know what the difference is in cost. It seems like turkey hunting is fairly reasonable but I've only paid to hunt once and that was on an exotic ranch so I'm used to doing it on my own on public land. If this last surgery is as successful as I'm hoping and I've got my legs back under me there are alot of the hunts I'd enjoy taking you guys on just for the comradery. Can't guarantee a trophy or the same successs rates as an outfitter with private land access but I can say it would be fun.

depends on the area you hunt and of course how well you know the area, the last actual numbers I saw were about 12% but I run about 90%. I have to say though I'm also a meat hunter and a forked horn tastes real good. My wife seems to be the trophy hunter family in the family with three over 105 with one 123. Oregon book requires 115" west of the Cascades and 125" in the Cascades. She had never killed a deer before we started hunting together in 2000 and the second year out she killed the first big 4 pointer and then it became an every other year thing. The coast is the worst place to hunt, the deer are generally smaller although there are some monsters lurking but the country is brutal. I prefer the southern cascades.

Last I heard Canada doesn't allow US citizens to bring handguns into Canada for hunting. True?
If so, that limits the handgun hunting combo hunts to US and Mexico and I imagine there would be a few hoops to take a handgun into Mexico legally.
My only combo hunt was to Newfoundland for moose and caribou, but the barrel was really long (for a handgun) and the stock behind the grip was sorta long too.

Argentina has handgun hunting and several species including aisian buff, stag and cougar but I have no idea of cost.

I'm surprised nobody has thrown in any upland bird hunting. I was thinking a black bear and grouse hunt in Maine would be pretty fun.

Most fun hunt I had outside of Africa was a brown bear in SW Alaska. Slept in a cabin. Showers were available. Fished in the mornings( I don't care for fishing). Caught about 120 with a 26" rainbow and a 26" char. Hunted in evening. Got my brownie with a Taurus .500S&W Mag. at 129 yards. Never got bored. A great hunt that I'd do again.

That is a monster brownie hitman.
Anyone interested in the S.E. Alaska fishing/hunting google: Wild Alaska Cruises, Capt. Larry Larson, the cost is around $3,500 for 7 days but check with him for specials.
Don't confuse shooting with hunting. Shooting is a game, hunting is a sport.

Here is one idea. You could hunt Wyoming antelope and include a private ranch bison hunt. I know there are ranches in the Cowboy State that raise bison and offer hunts for them. One of the best is the Durham Buffalo Ranch where I hold the HHI Antelope Hunt; many have done that scenario. The only problem for the average hunter is that there is a four to five year waiting list to get on for antelope.

A nice brown bear like the one wvhitman took and sitka blacktails. Or maybe a sheep/elk. I'd hate to have the option cause it would get expensive, cause I am sure combo hunts are like Lays.

The brownie was taken with a Taurus Raging Bull .500 S&W Mag. at 129 yards with a 375 gr. X. Put him down with one shot. Fired 2 more to please that guide that it was dead.

Great bear WVHitman. Cool to see the Barnes bullets performance too. I agree, and AK combo hunt of some sort seems like it would be a kick.
Only thing is I can't even afford a non-combo hunt right now lol. I guess that is what college does to you. Someday though

Or better yet transfer to Alaska!
