Just curious. I have one in .54 Caliber that my late uncle bought to elk hunt with. Using the 425gr grat plains and 90gr FFF it will get 1440fps. That clearly puts it in stomper country. The gun is uncannily accurate. I started loading it down to 60 or 70 grs of powder which took away a lot of the nasty recoil. I have yet to kill anything with it but I let my brother in law carry it and he took a whitetail with it. reflex264

Got a picture of it? Rifle or pistol? Barrel length?
I own 2 T/C 209X50's (one rifle & one pistol) and have killed 6X6 bull elk with both. The ballistics you quote sound similar and definitely will work for elk; esp. since in .54 caliber.

Those look like nice pistols...looks like the same concept as the TC Scout carbines/pistols. I see on the website that you have to inquire about price and delivery, do you know what the retail values are?
If you don't mind me asking, what twist rate does your barrel have?
Thanks

They are sharp looking guns, and I just about bought a used one last year, but the guy at the gun shop had too stiff of a price tag on it.
They are made in MN not too far from where my hometown is. I talked to a gentleman at their company, and he was very nice an informative. He told me the used one I was looking at (priced at $400) was too much to pay because new, that model went for $425 (I think, that was a while ago so I could a little off on the price). I have heard from else where that they are very accurate too.
It sounded like they are machined totally in-house, and they were redoing their machining facility with new equipment so there new muzzle loaders would have even better fit and finish, etc.
It sounded like at the time production had slowed a bit because their main gunsmith (and founder) was ill and receiving treatment. Hope he is doing alright and still making those; they sure were fine looking and feeling, and I would love to get one when I have a little more cash to play with. It had one of the best grip designs of any of the muzzle loader pistols I have held IMHO.
Reflex, that 425 load sounds like it would be a real "Thumper"!

Thumper aint the word for it! It makes a hot loaded 45-70 contender feel like a cap gun. The total ejecta is very high. I started backing it way off to shoot it. It even shoots round balls very good out to 70 yards. reflex264

I believe it as those heavier loads definitely put the power level well into the realm of the .454 world, and logically, the recoil although probably not as severe a "snap.".
