Thanks Darrell!
My wife and I just returned from a great hunt in Argentina. The first four pictures are taken from this hunt. South America is a wonderful place for handgun hunters and we took seven different species on this trip; all with the H-S Precision in 270 WSM. Longest shot was 264 yards on the red stag.
The last two photos were taken back in March in Benin (west Africa) Both the savannah buffalo and western roan were taken with the 375 JDJ.

Mark, you have earned the right to be called one of the most recognizable handgun hunters. Beautiful Animals! The Roan is Great!

Thanks David, the roan and buffalo taken in Benin was challenging and tough. Not to mention it was brutally hot! Quite an adventure.

Mark,
What bullet did you use in the .375 JDJ on the buffalo and western roan? What kind of velocity are you getting in your Encore? Can you give us some details about shot distance? How far the animal ran after the shot, etc? How many shots were required? Were you pleased with the bullet's performance? Thanks in advance!!!

Darrell, I was using Hornady's 270 grain spire point. The load I was using ran around 2075 fps. Shot distance on the roan (without looking at my notes) was around 120 yards. The bull ran off and follow-up shots were taken. The buffalo was approximately 100 yards and even though one shot would have sealed the deal, I put more in him to end the drama.
The 270 Hornady is a tough bullet and is effective on large game. The roan is a large antelope; well over 600 pounds. The buff, even though smaller than cape buffalo, still weighs in the neighborhood of 1200 pounds or so. I will be trying Cor-Bon's 270 grain DPX this fall in Mozambique.

Great information, thanks for the additional details! What bullet did you use in the 270 WSM?

Thanks Whitworth!
Darrell; I was using factory Federal ammo, their 110 grain Barnes and 130 grain Trophy Copper. The Federal ammo shot extremely well in this H-S. Terminal performance was excellent.

Congrats, Mark! You took some beautiful trophies! That Axis is some of the finest table fare you can get. I've heard that the capybara is the best "rat" for the table, but I've never tried it...

Great hunt, with some really nice trophies! If you dont mind, could you share more details about the hunt? Weather? The countryside? The guide? The stalk? Anything would be wonderful, for folks who may never get to hunt the world. Thanks, and congrats again, on some fine animals, and what had to be a awesome hunting trip.

Boot, Our seasons are reversed from the southern hemisphere so it was their winter; cold in the mornings, around 30 degrees. The terrain varies depending on what species you are hunting; and what part of the country. The red stag was stalked in mountainous areas whereas the blackbuck and axis were taken in more of a savannah environment. Gonzalo Llambi was our outfitter and has access to prime hunting concessions. All hunting was by spot and stalk. Argentina is a nice place, friendly people, with very good hunting opportunities.
