I read about hunters using this bullet in .44 Magnum marlins on deer so I figured it would be pretty tough. I shot some in my new model Charter Target Bulldog and it really likes them. Fixing to load some for the large frame .44 Specials and probably some of the .44 Magnums. Any experience on deer with them? reflex264

I used this bullet last fall on a large white tail doe from my Ruger Bisley FT 4 5/8" 44 special. It was my first time to hunt with the Gold Dot (or Deep Curl..same bullet different name). My load of WW296 averaged 1241 fps from my Bisley and was very accurate.

I shot the doe at 30 yards with a broadside behind the shoulder hit. The blood trail was very impressive and the exit hole showed expansion. The deer ran 20 yards and piled up. The Gold Dot bullet from my 44 performed as well as any bullet/cartridge combination I have ever used.

In the past I have used lead bullets in my 44 specials but think that the Speer GD may be my choice now. Only one example I know, but it did very well to say the least. I have also switched to the GD for my 41's.

141 fps...excellent hunting on your part! The deer could see it coming at that speed and dodge it!

Haven't tried them in the 44, but use the 210 GDHP's in my .41 Mag.

I love 'em, cause deer and hogs hate 'em!
