I got a problem and don't know what to do, so I guess you guys are going to have to help. I am debating on getting a new revolver and I have two choices and two calibers.

First I have a Redhawk with the 4.2" barrel the other is the Super Redhawk with 7.5" barrel, I can't make up my mind on which one of the two. The other part is which caliber, the .44 Mag or .45 LC (.454/.45LC in the super redhawk).

I already own a Super Redhawk in .480 Ruger and a Super Blackhawk Hunter in .41. Come on guys help me out here.

Hey man, you gonna shoot that thang or not?

What exactly is your self-described "problem?" IE: please define it more precisely so we can offer experienced answers based on your real wants/desires...

What are you looking to do that you can't do with what you already own? IE: Hunting bigger game or self-defense or target or what???

And as far as creature comforts go: which model that you now own 'feels better' or gives you more "confidence" when you hold it and aim it and shoot it??

Which do you shoot better?

One other small matter to consider: recoil. You say you have the .480 Ruger and a .41 Magnum; quite different in recoil energies. And you ask about a .44 magnum and a .454 Casull; worlds apart in recoil energy.

So gotta ask: how well do you handle recoil?

Come on, help us out here.

Get both.

I know, you asked to help choose between the two and this doesn't help, but.......

Get both.

The wording in your post is a little ambiguous so I will take a stab at figuring out what you meant.

You currently own:
SRH in 480 Ruger
SBHH in 41 mag

You are looking at possibly picking up:
SRH in 45/454
4.2" RH in 44 mag or 45 colt

If this is correct, I would go with the 4.2 RH in 45 colt.
You already have plenty of long barreled hunters and I would contend that there isn't anything the 454 can do that the 480 doesn't already do with less punishing recoil. What your battery is missing is a large caliber revolver that you can carry when hunting is not the #1 task of the day. IMHO a 4.2 RH fits that bill perfectly.
Being you already own a 480 I can make a pretty safe assumption that you already reload so feeding your 45Colt with Ruger only loads will not be something that will break the bank.

Just my unscientific $0.02

Yep. Like the above post, it sounds like you need a shorty.

He posted: "First I have a Redhawk with the 4.2" barrel"

So I took it to mean he already had one.

If you want a shorty (not totally sure what you are asking for help with) and want the 454 get an Alaskan. I have one. They are authoritative in recoil but they are pretty nice to pack around. It covers the 45 colt loading of course and the 454. Great for bear country.

Get a Redhawk 4.2 in 45 Colt, best of both worlds. I believe there are some out there.

Rod, too.

Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

Sorry for the confusion to some. I don't own the redhawk, I was just saying that is one of the choices.

After much thought last night I decided I am going with the redhawk in .45. I don't have that short barrel in the line-up and figured it will be more useful. Or maybe I can win the lotto and buy both.

It's a great configuration! I don't think you will be disappointed.
