I just ordered 2 boxes of 225gr for the 44mag and 2 boxes of 275gr for the 460 S&W.

Hoping for some load help for both. As expensive as these things are I would like to keep the tinkering to a minimum for now.

XTP or Barnes, I thought you mentioned barnes in your other post.

Sorry. Just changed it. It is the XPB's I am loading and NOT the XTP. I do have some 300gr XTP's that I loaded up and will be shooting this week. But they are cheap compared to the Barnes bullets.

the XTP's are cheaper but will work on anything in North America with the exception of Grizz and probably moose and borderline for elk. If you have the Mags which I don't believe they have for the 44 then your covered on everything. On the XPB's I've never used them so I don't have any data. I know alot of guy's like them but because of the soft copper the increase pressure faster and you lose velocity. I preferred the Partitions when they were available but the Swift A frame is the same thing and probably the way I'd go if I needed more than the XTP or XTP Mag.

I did get the XTP Mags. They should be here Wednesday. I am loving the reloading (been a while and nice to be doing it again) and figured if I am going on this hog hunt and have a large number of carcasses to shoot then I might as well get a few different bullets loaded to test with.

I know there will be way too many variables to make it a professional test, but figure it will make good video and at a minimum give me some idea of what each will do.

Plus the live critters I will shoot. Fun, fun, fun

DOA, just an fyi on the 225 grain Barnes. These bullets are huge (long). I couldn't get a book max load of 296 in the case and seat them to the cannelure. I'd like to try the 200 grain version...

DOA, also remember do not cross data between the XPB and the XTP's, as I stated earlier the Barnes bullets use a copper much softer than the jacket of the XTP and using the same data could result in a very dangerous pressure spike even with the lighter bullet.

Thanks for the heads up rod. I am pretty anal when it comes to load stuff (engineering background). That's why I ask so many questions here lol.

Tried to call Barnes but only got an answering machine.

Just got a call from Barnes and this is their recommendations

44 Mag 225gr xpb H110 Min 20 Max 21
460S&W 275gr xpb H110 Min 36 Max 38.2

Gonna give these a go once the bullets arrive from Midway.

A little trick with Barnes is to email. They do not get back same day, but they will. I think Ty Herring is their guy, and the nice thing about emails is having it "written" down so no transpositional errors.
