I have seen how much money reloading for my rifle has saved me and I want to start reloading for my pistol as well. My question is this, do I need to get a new press and everything that goes with it or can I just get the shell holder, dies, etc. for my particular cartridge and reload them on the same press? Thanks

Yes. Changeover can be a pain unless you get locking die rings so you can reset quicker, but the basic gear is the same.

Rod, too.

Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

If you have a dedicated progressive loader for your rifle(s), change over can be a time consuming issue. If you are using single stage press for your rifle cartridges, you do not "need" another. The shell holder & dies will serve you OK.

It's more important where you hit 'em, than what you hit 'em with.

Ok great! That is what I needed to know. Now I just need to start my sweet talking (to the wife) and saving.

Oh, now that's going to be more work than the change overs.

I was afraid of that. That's why I needed the information first. The more information I can get the better because she is an ex-teacher and she knows the right questions to ask. LOL

Remember ,if you have a rifle and a pistol in the same cartridge the data is differant. So having two sets of dies or at least two seating dies will save time and help in your load consistency.
