Ok so I just got a RCBS rock chucker loader. I need to know what else is a necessity for me to reload. I have the dies, primers, and scale but what else do I need? Anyone near the Canton michigan area that would be willing to teach me how to reload?

Lube, lube pad, and someone that's done it a lot so you don't make all the dumb mistakes we made since no one taught us.

Lol, how true that is wvhitman. Also powder funnel. Do you have a hand primer? Also primer pocket cleaner tool. I have a cheap lee that does both small and large and it has worked well for 25 years. You might want to get a few scale weights to make darn sure your scale is accurate. When loading at or near the max a grain or two could be a rather large problem.

I would add a good powder measure, or several. Also a powder trickler is handy. Eventually you will need a case trimmer, caliper, and chamfer tool.

Rod, too.

I'd skip the lube pad and just get the hornady spray case lube as it's much easier and less finicky than the thick lube sold for case lube pads...

The Hornady is easier to get inside the neck also. It dries up pretty quick and doesn't stay tacky.

I prefer the paste lube in the tub, Unique by Hornady. Dip fingers in the tub and fondle cases.

You were reading my mind, I was just about to suggest the same item. It works easier and cleans up easier also..

I have the calipers and chamfer tools already since I have been a tool and die maker for 25 years so have all that stuff. I have lube pad also. I knew the reloading books for sure too. Is anyone better than the other? I will primarily be loading .357,44 mag, possibly 35 remington also.

well those are all pretty easy to load for so you are in luck. I would love to help show you the ropes but I am in Arkansas. Maybe try Armslist place an add for some help. If some one wants to charge you for it then that's not the kind of feller you want teaching you anyways. Same with a Mr. Max Load. I am sure you can find somebody to walk you through the process and share insight.

Quit now before you hooked. Lol. I just started loading last year. Below is some of my mistakes.
Lube in mouth of case lightly like outside of case. I stuck a case in die.
The hornady lube spray is easy to use but found it was problem with my 375 jdj. Try the Unique lube. Lightly lube is key so you don't dent cases. Don't lube neck area. You will get little dents around base of neck. I have few in trash because of that.
Have pre plan for removing stuck case. I had to logon for help.
Buy digital scale to compare powder charges on beam scale. I was unsure of my self at first setting beam scale.
Have way to pull bullets. I had a few misfires and didn't have bullet puller at first to figure out problem.
Have confidence in your work. I had several misfires and couldn't understand what I did wrong. The problem was hammer springs on my guns not my reloads. The guys here pointed it out to me that my reloads maybe ok and check the springs. This site has wealth of knowledge for beginners. Welcome to the addiction. I made 4 trips to local bass pro the first week I started reloading.

I agree with the digital powder measurer. I have the manual one but not good enough for me. What case trimmer is the best or would be a good one?I don't need automatic one as I am not reloading a bunch and have plenty of time to do it. I cannot believe how expensive some of them are.

Thank you James. I am just beginning in this endeavor so I may take you up on that offer.
