I just found out that i drew a bear tag in Michigan. I was just blown away because this is my first year living here and i thought i'd be waiting for a few years to get one. ROCK ON!! Me and the beast (my Super Blackhawk, although, not a beast to most of you) will be after a bear in the Northern U.P. Now i just need to start doing research on the state land up there. If anyone knows anything about any land up in the Baraga bear managament unit, i'd be glad to hear it.

Sorry, I can't help you with info as I have never hunted over there..but,I do love to bear hunt with a handgun or handcannon!

Congratulations Cyberhick! Bear is one thing I have not yet hunted with a handgun. Used to do hunts in the Gila in SW New Mexico with flintlock muzzleloaders.
I need to start doing some research on bear hunting maybe in CO and some other states that I usually Elk hunt and know the areas. I have been told it would take several years to draw. Maybe I can get lucky like you.

I'm huntin bear too. I drew the second season in the Newberry area of the U.P. in Michigan. I'll be using my SuperRedhawk. What round are you going to use?

I'm using a .44mag and plan on using a 300gr-320gr hard cast bullet, handloaded. I want to get some 320gr Penn bullets because they get real high marks for accuracy and performance.
