I noticed today that the primers were a little flat on my 310 grain bullets over 22 grains of h110. I was concerned about pressure so I looked at some factory ammo cases and they are the same way. Is it common for the primers to flatten a little. Instead of having the little round edge like an unfired primers it's squared off. I'm shooting a super redhawk 44 magnum.

DeerDad,

Not uncommon in revolvers. Primer flattening is not a real reliable gauge of pressure in a straight walled case fired in a revolver.

DD,

I'll add a little to Doc's correct assessment. When a revolver (even semi) is fired, the primer can back out a little at ignition. The pressure builds, and the case is eventually slammed against the recoil shield/breech face. This will reseat the spent primer. You can test this for yourself with a primed (no powder/bullet) case. The primer can get a little beat up.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. As long as the empty cases still extract easily, there shouldn't be an issue.
