Hello. I bought a fine used Super Redhawk in Target Grey finish, of which I call a Greyhawk. (I call a stainless Blackhawk a Silverhawk, too.) This has a 7.5 inch barrel. Excellent feeling trigger. Hogue rubber grips.
Who sells rings for this model? Will a Weaver handgun scope hold up well? Its all I have right now. Who sells 480 brass? Any advice/suggestions?
I plan to use it for caribou and griz protection using proper hardcast bullets.

The factory Ruger rings are pretty darn good. You got yourself a great revolver in a great caliber! Congratulations!

You will love that gun. Mine is the mate to it & unless one of the kids needs a kidney or something I have no intention of ever letting it go. Here is the scope base I have on mine (except I used blue which I think looks better). http://www.midwayusa.com/product/317159/...-notches-silverGives a few more mounting options as well as allowing you to use standard rings. Good choice if you don't have Ruger rings. If you want to use it for bear defense I would prefer a red dot over a standard scope. Starline is out of brass right now but does occasional runs. https://www.starlinebrass.com/brass-cases/480-Ruger-Brass/

Yup, the target grey does look good. I'll look into buying brass, load dies , and scope rings soon. Bullets, too. My intentions were to scope it for caribou hunting and iron sites when moping about in grizzly territory. Thanks for the help everyone.

By the way RustyGunn, I personally love the target gray finish. I do too. Loved it from the first time I saw it when I bought my first .480 SRH in 2001. Great revolver!

Preach on. I never got the ugly finish comments. I wish my standard stainless finish having srh's were target grey. They again i think the pistol is pretty good looking and so many think its ugly and i also dont think its a huge anvil to carry around either like so many say it is. Its not anymore obtrusive than any other nig bore with the same barrel length is. I love them.

Compared to the Redhawk, the Super is a bit ugly. I can live with this. Not going to be a problem. They look cool with a scope on them though.

Sorry about that. I'm still learning how this pm stuff works. I thought I did it correct but obviously didn't.

The Weigand scope mount is great. If you use the Ruger rings you can leave your rear sight on
Sometimes it is entirely appropriate to kill a fly with a 12 pound sledgehammer!

Grafs has Hornady 480 brass in stock. A bit more $$ than Starline but it's premium brass "in stock".
So does Natchez.
