Got word back from Paula Iwanski at Savage today, and they are indeed discontinuing the entire Striker line-up due to poor sales performance. The bad thing is, the poor sales is Savage's own fault as the have dont nothing to market it since it's introduction in 1999. Savage has never been a company to spend a lot of money on marketing, but they need to realize that certain products need marketing to increase public interest and generate sales. It's the basic principals of marketing...but obviously Savage just doesn't get it.

Bummer... I've got two custom Strikers and that are SUPER accurate...evne from the factory. My biggest issue with them is that stupid magazine!! Get rid of it and decrease the vertical profile by at least an inch! I'm certain this would make the entire rig handle much better...and...feel a little more "XP-ish."

I feel the pain, as I have two project builds planned for this next year based on the Striker action. The first is the .50 Beowulf handgun discussed in another thread, and the other will be convered over to a long gun for benchrest. I'm a lefty, so the left bolt/right port setup is perfect for me.

Yep - I was told by the folks at Savage 2 years ago that they weren't going to spend any money marketing the gun. Any time a product exists without internal support it will not be around long. The lawyers (gun law suits) scared off Remington from making the XP - and ya know, when it came time to get a new rifle for my daughter recently - I didn't buy a Rem.
I guess the only one left is the HS-Precision.

This would be a good time to snap 'em up. Same thing happened to the 100 XPR when I gotr mine in 260 for around $400. I'll bet they will blow out the remaining stiock to distributers. Mine is a "mini striker" in 22 WMR fun, shoots (after the replacement trigger) but not all that pretty.

Yeah!, what he said!!!
Well that's the bain of this sport. Find what ya like or works and it's either high priced or out of production. The only plus to the striker being dropped is that I haven't got one yet, so the bug has not bit. Guess I'll just ignore the striker and let the rest of you have my share.
Adversity just makes us handgunners tougher and more diligent!!!

Aye this sucks. Very little support for long range handgun hunting and shooting now save for TC, HS Precision, MOA, Competitor, EABCO, and RPM XL. Might be a few others I am leaving out, but that sort of sums it up. And I was recently considering a Striker as well. I know I can pick them up cheaply when the closeout push begins, but the halt of production sort of takes the wind out of my sails regarding this particular model. It would be interesting if we could ever talk NEF/H&R to produce a Contender/Encore like handgun with their handi-rifle frame design

Hate to say but HS is also looking at discontinuing their handgun as well. This was told to me by the folks at HS on my last order. Don't know how much longer they will produce the 2000P.They are not talking about discontinueing the stock. nmhunter

Considering Marlin (who now owns H&R) is currently up for sale, I don't see them offering anything new anytime soon. Remington and Winchester are both currently up for sale as well, and Ruger's stock dropped by about 50% recently when they stopped offering dividends.
Next few years could get real ugly when it comes to American firearms manufacturers.

I am so glad that they are dropping that ugly gun. Just another case of Anti-Handgun gun manufacturers. Guess I'll never buy anything savage.

When we were up bear hunting this fall near Ilion NY the local news ran a little segment that Remington was behind on thier electric bill by something like $500,000 (don't hold me to this exact but it's close) and the utility was trying to turn thr lights out. Was interesting to hear.
