Please forgive my ignorance but is this the barrel that can fire a 410 shot shell?
I thought I read that it has a choke...
Would it be good for turkey hunting or is it not enough power/shot??

Well I did foind out these bbls do accept the 410 shot shells.
now I am wondering if anbyone goes after turkeys with it?
I realize your NOT going to get 12 ga ranges but is 20 to 25 yards out of the question?

Thanks,

depending on your state's laws, the .410 is probably not even legal for turkeys. most state's laws that i know of are 12 and 20 only for shotguns. and then some have a rifle and handgun season. although i haven't tried it, i would think that it would be on the weak side for turkey even at close range. check your laws and see if you can use a small cenerfire pistol...danb has used a 222 rem xp100 to good effect!!

I'll gladly pay you Tuesday for a handgun today.

After further digging in our reg book I see that there is no gauge limitations, only shot sizes.
However its stated that niether rifle nor handguns may be used to hunt turkeys.

Not only that but in most staes a shot gun with a bbl under 18" is considered illegal.
Since its a "handgun" bbl it may not be considered and shot gun, but then its illegal to use handguns in VT for turkeys.
This is becoming a bit to much gray area to deal with.

Well, scrap that plan. LOL
Thanks.

Thanks,
Shawn

Yeah the state regs can be confusing. Like here in NY you can hunt deer with a black powder pistol as long as it's a single shot. NO revolvers like the Ruger Old Army. Here in NY you can only hunt turkeys with a shotgun. NO pistol or rifle. I think I could get excited about turkey hunting if I could use a pistol.

You are right a shotgun with a barrel lenght of less than 18" is illegal by federal law. But the 45/410 barrel is not considered a shotgun barrel because it has rifling for the 45 colt.

Sounds like we may have to have a fall turkey hunting get together here in PA...would let you less fortunate fellas kill a feathered table buzzard with a handgun!!
