I am loading for my 270 Ren barrel. My question is whether or not the 110 grain Hornady V-Max in 270 cal will expand and/or fragment to any degree at a muzzle velocity of say 1600 fps if shots on groundhogs are kept to 100 yards ? I'm new to this caliber and cartridge. Thanks.

I've really only dabbled with the larger 7mm 120gr V-Max's around 2400fps (half again faster than you are looking at). I imagine they would shoot well...as all V-Max's have for me...but not sure about the expansion. Only a little testing would tell.

As a side note to Rupe....I'll be in Oil City on Tuesday.
