I just purchase a TC Contender in 7x30 waters. Any suggestion for hunting loads for deer and hogs out to 100yds? I ran some of the federal factory ammo through it this afternoon and it shoots great. My concern is will the 120 gr sp's expand at pistol velocities? The barrel is 12" with a muzzle brake.

Are you going to strictly stay w/ the factory loads or do you plan on reloading?? I've only shot reloads and get very good performance w/ 120gr offerings...Hornady V-Max does GREAT! As for a hogs load...I would not suggest this bullet and many ever recommend that you step up to a 139/140gr fodder.

Dan will the V-max hold together and get adequate penetration? I'd prefer an exit wound with good bullet expansion.

Can't say if the V-Max will give adequate penetration or not...I used it for a headshot at 110 yards. I can say that I had to drag the deer out by her front feet...nearly took her head clear off. I wil also offer up advise on the 120gr Speer HorCore...nailed a doe at 200 yards with this bullet and it just needled through her. Took about 100 yards of tracking but we got her...the holes were caliber in, caliber through all the internals and caliber out.

I use the 120 Nosler balistic tips. They perform fantastic on deer, are very accurate, and I see no reason why they could not take a pig.
