I bought a Rancho gillie suit a couple of years ago for turkey and bowhunting. I love the fact that I can slip the pants and jacket over my clothes and I am instantly camoflaged. I do a lot of turkey hunting before work with my Dad. We get up extra early and we're in the woods before light. We'll hunt until 8:00 or so( I have to be in for about 8:30-8:45 ) and just unzip and I am work ready, so to speak. It works great for that. One of the downsides is that it takes getting used to having all that shaggy material covering you. Another issue is that you will leave some bits here and there if you go through any picky bushes.

Several years ago I was on a varmint hunt in GA with a fella that makes Ghillie Suits. Very nice!! I think his name was Todd.

We'd be setting up along a field dege to call for coyotes...while the rest of us were looking for a place to hide...this fella would just plop down against a fence post and disappear!! All you could see was the bead blasted SS barrel of his rifle.

I think his website was GhilleSuits.com

** Yep...that's his site...just checked it out. Updated quite a bit and added a bunch of stuff since I was last there.

I mad emine out of an old Mossy Oak 3D net leafy suit. I took a couple of my old limitary issue BDU shirts and cut them into 4"x8" blocks and then fridged about 7"x1/2" strips leaving one end at 4". I then sewn them all over my coat pant and head net.. I did not cover the inside of the left arm for bow shooting and nothing below the knee since I tuck all pants inside my LaCrosse boots..
I used 2 Forest camo and one dessert camo shirts..
I love it...

Thanks,
Shawn

I bought the 3D suit years ago when I lived in LA during my USAF days. Its all netting with the die cut leave sewn in rows on it. The leafy suits of today are much better IMO.
I bought mine more for mosquitoes then camo. LOL
Plus I could wear shorts and a t-shirt out in the 85* F heat during the bow season down there.
I made it into the gillie a couple years ago since I came home to VT.
It works really well but can be a burden at times over conventional camo.
Especially with back pack straps, bow strings, etc...
Should be excellent for gun hunting...

Thanks,
Shawn
