saw where it has been proposed to up our hunting license by $5.00 each !they are 12.50 now(includes .50 cent issuance fee)they would go up to $18.00 according to the article i saw.(last year i paid $55.50 to hunt with archery, muzzle loader and modern firearms, this year the same license will cost $83.00 if this passes)i realize some people pay alot more but in this part of the state it seems the"national forest" signs are slowly being replaced with posted signs!they arent making enough money by selling off the mountains so they figure they will charge more for less!
on the positive side it is estimated to add three million dollars to the va. budget so instead of having three state workers setting and watching one work now we can have five watching one!
i guess i should not complain...it could be worse, gas could be close to three bucks a gallon ...jim257 (almost forgot this will also jack trout license up by five bucks)

get-r-done

They are jacking the cost up another $10 in PA this year...that will put our basic license (small game, fall and spring turkey stamps, and one deer) up to $35. Doe tags are getting increased to $10 or $15 each...archery stamp costs more, ML costs more, bear costs more and with all this...they have been slaughtering out deer herd down to nothing.

Yes...it sucks.

Jim...being a PA state employee...I do know there is a lot of waste in areas. There are also a lot of state workers that bust arse. Our Goobener Rendel wants to reopen our contract, take away out vacation, sick and holidays, cut raises (which in almost four years I have seen hardly any...maybe 4%) and royally screw us. Guess why......it's an election year and anytime someone wants to beat up state employees they look good w/ Joe Public.

I buy sportsman license in Tn, which includes archery, muzzleloader, and gun seasons. They cost me 135.00/year. I got lucky with my son and bought him a lifetime license when he was 2yrs old, cost me $200 and is valid even if he moves out of state.

jim, are there rate increases for non-residents too? i live in md but hunt in va also. last year the license cost me $190 for all weapons i believe. and my home state hovers around $50 or so not counting any duck or goose stamps which i get some years. anyway, i'm not sure i could handle too much of an increase. hopefully they will be gentle....yeah, right.

I'll gladly pay you Tuesday for a handgun today.

Here in Oregon a hunting license alone is 22.50 plus 4.50 for each controlled hunt application, a combo hunting fishing is 43.75, deer tag 14.50, cougar and bear 11.50 ea., elk 34.50, sheep and goat 101.50 ea., antelope 36.50, turkey 18.00, non residents are 10 to 15 times those amounts, IE deer 264.50, sheep 1083.50 and so on.

I won't be wronged. I won't be insulted. I won't be laid a-hand on. I don't do these things to other people, and I require the same from them. John Wayne-The Shootist
