I will be new to this. Having used scopes on rifles and red dots on shotguns my feelings of what to go with on a Ruger SBH .44 Mag. are mixed. Most scopes give magnification the red dots I've experienced didn't. I'll be hunting in thick stuff, what choice would seem better?

Leupold or Burris 2x scope would be my choice hands down.

XPHunter has great advice, but.... On my hunting revolver. a S&W mod. 29 you'll find an UltraDot-4 red dot sight. For our at times brushy country I really like it at revolver ranges.
The 2x scope MIGHT show you a branch in the way you could miss with the red dot, but for me the red dot advantages (speed, no parallax & any eye elief (for those funky position shots)etc.) outweigh it's disadvantages.

kaylee,
Looks like you just saw some pros and cons for each set-up.
Good post Vance.

Thanks for all replies. I'll be looking around i admit I am leaning towards a red dot but we will see.

T/C recoil proof 2x lighted crosshair scope.

I sold mine and have regretted since the first opening day after it left.

The variable might be an even better choice.
