Hello group,
Well, it has finally happened...I think I need a revolver. After all these years of shootin' single shots I need a new way of hunting, more of a challange. Of course I've owned them (revolvers)...and traded them away. They just never rang my bell. The last one was a Redhalk in 44 mag, I traded it to Larry in SD. It sported a 7.5" bbl and shot 3" groups off a rest at 100 yds. But, it was big and bulky, with a scope and was not fun to pack for the miles I roam here in the west. For years in my early Law Enforcement career I packed a S&W M-28 / 357 mag. I like it and shot well with it. I like double actions for the shorter lock time then the single actions.
I think that a 41 mag would meet my needs of a hunting, pistol sil and walk about gun, double or single action, good quality open sights, five or six shot cylinder with a 5-6" bbl. I'd love a Freedon Arms, but I'd have to sell one of my XP's to afford one. I looked a one in 454 yesterday, sure is nice. I guess I could get a 357 Ruger Blackhawk and get it customized and bumped up to five shot 41. The 357 would be just a little lite for my western big game hunting. Of course I reload so light plinking loads and full power hunting loads are not a problem for practice.
I have not been following revolvers at all, suggestions?

I've got Gary building me a 410GNR right now which is a 454 Casull necked down to .41, the ballistics look good on paper but I'll let you guys know what it does in the real world. I should have it within the next week or so and then it's time to play.

WOW! That is one pretty gun. I'd be afraid to carry it in the field! All my guns are workin' guns and get a lot of use. Still......man that is pretty.

Yep, Reeder makes some nice looking revolvers and T/C stuff. I wouldn't mind getting a revolver from him someday.

I saw a nice .41 Raging Bull at Ganders yesterday. I almost bought it but I already have three .41's. It sure would be a pussy cat to shoot.

Shop around sometimes you can get a used FA for less than what you would have in something that was customized. A 41 would probably be tough to find though. Most of the FAs I see are in 454. Of course a .44 customized by Magnaport into a predator would be pretty cool too for a packin pistol.

Why not a 6-Shot .41?!? Crappy pic but great shooter!
Rod, too.

Here's a 6 shot 41 with a little more punch.

Ya know, I never even thought about a DW. I was leaning towards a Ruger. How do the DW's hold up?

I have 4 DW's. They hold up well and are very accurate. I had a timing issue with my 357 Max, sent it to DW and got it fixed ASAP. That was about 4 years ago.
