And...no...I'm not talking about the magazine. ;\)

A shipment should be here at anything this afternoon to deliver a new toy!! I know it is considered taboo to discuss the long sticks but I got a new Model 7 on the way!! It will be the perfect twin to my daughters M7 7mm-08. Mine is in 7mm Rem SAUM. I've already got brass prepped and the Lyman 1200DPS is warming up to start throwing charges for break-in loads. I'll likely top it with a Nikon 4.5-14 SF. Then get all the load work done...load a box of 20...clean it and oil well...and stick it in the back of the safe with all my other rifles.

Sorry...I just get all giddy over new toys!!

I have more guns than I need, but not nearly as many as I want...

Hey Dan, isn't that scope going to be bigger than the rifle? \:\)

Sounds cool Dan.

If I was to buy a rif...., ahem a new rifl.... well I can hardly bring myself to say the "R" word. \:\) It would be a Marlin XLR in 308 Marlin, then second would be the Model 7 but, a 673 in 6.5 Rem Mag. I love the look of the 2 tone wood, ventrib, and shark finn front sight. The 221 XP's newer brother.

Dan, The Rem. mod 7 is a great little rifle. I have a mod 7-MS thats light to carry and a great shooter in 260 Rem. James

Yeah...after getting the rifle in hand and looking at the ballistics I think a 3-9X Burris w/ BP will be plenty of scope.

Not after shooting the SAUM! It has less felt recoil than the 7-08...I was floored.

Yep.....it's hard to believe, but the 7 SAUM is really "all that"! I expected MUCH higher recoil, but it is far less than my 308 Model 7.

How is it shooting??? I think I told you that mine has done the best so far with IMR4831......3150+ fps with 140 grain bullets and 2950+ with 154-160.....

Heck...still don't have dies or bases yet! They will be here on Monday or Tuesday. I loaded 20 test rounds with my WSM dies to start barrel break-in. Then shot one from the porch to see how it felt...and as already said...was quite suprised!

Loaded with H380 and 139BTSP's to start. According to Hodgdons data it will send a 140gr pill into the mid 3150's from a 24" barre. The M7 has a 22" tube. I was going to load with 160AB and 162AM but after playing with numbers I think I'll load this one light...139/140gr bullets. My 700 .280AI launches 168's to 2950 so I'll let that be one of my LR rifles. The M7 will be a more "all around" carry gun with optics more suited to the task.

I was also quite suprised at how much smaller the SAUM is than the WSM. Already thought about just having it punched out to the same chamber dimensions as my XP-100 WSM. ;-) I'll hopefully get some range time this week with it. Going to top it with a 12X Loopy just for load work while I rangle up a 3-9X Burris BP rifle scope for it.
