I'm operating on a tight budget but I'm interested in scoping a Ruger Super Blackhawk .44 mag. What's the best scope for the least money? I want something that will hold up, but I can't afford to spend more for the scope than I do for the gun it's going on... \:\)

And while we're on the subject, what's the best no-gunsmith mount for that same gun?

Thanks...

My recommendation would be the 2x Weaver hands down.....durable, clear, good FOV, correct adjustments, etc. It would be my only option if I couldn't do a Leupold. Both B-Square and Weaver make no-gunsmithing mounts, but haven't used either so I can't give my opinion either way

I'll gladly pay you Tuesday for a handgun today.

I read that the Simmons worked well for the money. Bushnells isn't to bad either. But I don't have person experence with either. I'm in the same boat(broke), I'm leaning toward the Bush, because of the eye relief is alittle more and I've got some long arms.

Make that two votes for the Weaver!! It would also be my first choice even if I could afford a Leupold. I have the 2X and 4X Weaver...both on Hunter model RBH's.

make that three for the weaver, I too had the 2x and 4x and never had any problems. I think for the money they are hard to beat, I blew up a tasco on SBH and I don't know much about the simmons, I have a 4x pro hunter I picked up cheap but I've never had it mounted on anything.

I forgot about the mount, I put a weaver on my step dads .41 black hawk and in fact he has my 2x weaver scope too and it seems to hold fine and installs in 5-10minutes.

My oldest son is going to college in Pendleton. We actually live east of Baker City, but I've spent some time down in the Alvord and Steens country too. It's incredible country.

I agree on the Bushnell Elite 3200 Firefly from Natchez Shooters Supply. It's about the best scope deal out there right now.

My family has 10 acres on the SW corner of Alvord desert, up on a hill. I've thought about putting up a little cabin and renting it to hunters, but then I would be in it during hunting season and I wouldn't make any money with it. lol

My inlaws have property on the middle fork of the John Day just west of Susanville, how close are you to there?

I am one of the others that got the bushnell 3200 firefly from natchez, that would be a great scope for the 44 and at half the normal price it would be a good choice and probably a little better than the weaver I recommended earlier.

That's a sale price. I'm not sure how long it will last though.

According to Mapquest it's about 94 miles from here to Susanville...

I can’t decide if the folks in Oregon are having a family reunion or what. With the way the posts have been lately I would almost accuse the “BrokeBackMountion” thing. But with Wapitirod being on meds, I just don’t know!!!

I highly recommend this product, I have mine on a .22 LR/ .22Mag, and the quality is superb, is also a variable for the price of a fixed power, and it would be perfect on a .44Mag if you do want a fixed power.

I have more guns than I need, but not nearly as many as I want...
