Im putting together a new TC encore pro hunter handgun and I need some advise about scope mount bases...I have read that a one piece type base (maybe just on the pro hunter barrels) has a gap under it at one area. Now im not sure if this is true or not...but I was wondering what some of you are using. One piece or two piece?

The Leopold one piece double dove tail mounts are wonderful! I have them on my Encore 7mm Mag and 375 H&H. They have not budged and I don’t expect them to. I use red lock tight on my TC barrels because they come into direct contact with the heat distortion. But that is just what I do. I do it because I have had too many mounts on TC’s come loose.

I just checked my Leupold forward mounting double dove tail mounts. I see a space were the mount is over the barrel taper. That is the only space I know of. There is some space underneath were the dove tails have to pivot, but that is normal.

I have a prohunter with the factory 7-08 barrel and there is a gap on a Warne one piece base, but there will we on any base on a tapered barrel. I have had good luck with the Warne stuff. I would definately go with steel bases. Don't use aluminum and I think you will be fine. I have a Leupold QR base on my MZ barrel and there is a gap, but no problems. Good luck and enjoy!
