Got a call last night from a friend of mine who is the state SCI director.......we have done a bit of shooting together and I have loaded for his 500 Nitro double rifle (he killed a bull elephant with one of my loads a few months ago!)........he called to ask if I knew anything about a TC pistol. He had purchased a Contender from a fellow SCI member and couldn't find ammo for it (30 Herrett)......we visited about what he had and I told him I'd help feed the Herrett.......I had one years ago but never did much with it, the throat was so long I don't think a 180 grain round nose bullet would have stayed in the case and touched the lands!!.....I plan to set him up with the 125 grain Nosler Ballistic Tip and I have a few powders to try......but, I need a set of dies.....anybody have an extra set???

He got the 10" Herrett, a 10" oct 44 mag/44 shot barrel and a 2X Leupold.......

He is already asking about other barrels and he hasn't fired a shot with it yet!!

i'm a thinkin there may have been a set of dies in the specialty pistols classifieds recently. might dig around there.

Yep, I just missed them! I have a line on 2 different sets and should have arrangement made to purchase one of them shortly.

Don't you have a custom 30 Herrett barrel??? I seem to remember a story you wrote about a nice buck you took with it in the last couple of years??? Spot and stalk, wasn't it??? Tell me about your barrel, I've always thought a custom 30 Herrett would be about the perfect 10" 'tender barrel......

I believe Hornady still makes dies for the 30 Herrett. I just bought a set of 357 Herrett dies for under $50.

Midway has both Hornady and RCBS 30 Herrett dies.

Anyhoo...my barrel is a 10" AA that was converted to fit the SS frame. Yep...just a plain jane factory tube! It sure is a shooter though! When shooting steel plates on my range it will print under 3" at 275yds. I load 130gr Hornady Spire Points over 26.5gr RL-7. That's good for about 2000fps.

...and ...yes! This is the barrel I shot that 13pt with a few years ago.

I have a custom shop .357 Herrett and a couple others but the .30 Herrett is factory.
