Guys I picked up some Hornady 45 cal bullets a couple of months back off of Gun Broker and just opened the package to start some reloading for the old BH & SRH. It turns out that the bullets are 45 caliber, but are .458 diameter Hornady # 4500. The dealer no longer sells reloading supplies and according to the Hornady website these are rifle bullets. Anyone know if I can use these for pistol? Please help this unprepared shooter.

Not unless you own a 45-70, .450 Marlin T/C barreled TC. No these will not work in a .45 Colt as the barrel diamiter is .452

Sounds like a good excuse to buy an Encore barrel or a BFR in 458 caliber.

Hardball, if you are looking for some top quality bullets for .45/454 you could contact my bullet sponsor.

He makes some pretty good stuff, and I know Tim Sundles with Buffalo Bore Ammunition has no complaints either. I stand by em, as these are what I use and shoot.
