Got my name drawn to attend a 3 day hunt for the disabled at Horton Creek WMA 15 thru 17 October. The area is near Tallahassee Florida. Lots of deer there and only gets hunted once a year by disabled hunters. Can shoot either sex. Think I will hold out for a buck the first day and after that the girls better look out too! Been hunting with a Contender now for two years and haven't fired a shot. Hopefully this will be my year!

Way to go G-Man. You want me to send you some lucky 7-30 ammo I loaded about three years back. Myself and everyone I have loaned that dang pistol to has fired a shot and taken a deer or pig. Still got about 30 of those 139grn Hornady SST loaded over a healthy dose of IMR4895. I can already smell the venison steak cooking on the grill.
Go into it with a positive attitude. You will take a deer, maybe even a buck will be in the big picture.
Good luck.
I work some of the Disabled Archery hunts here in Oklahoma and they are very rewarding. I drew a kid two years back and he took his first deer, a doe and you would have thought he had a Boone-Crocket record.
Practice, Practice.

One of the rewards of being disabled is to appreciate mole hills as well as mountains!

Congrats and Good Luck Gman. We all are pulling for ya, and we KNOW you can do it. I agree, maybe the 3rd year will be the charm to get you your Buck. Regardless of what you get, that first handgunned deer will be a true trophy and one you'll remember the rest of your life.

Like I said Gman, we're all pulling for ya on this one. Good luck.

Larry

Get em GMan. Do ya know what the area is suppose to be like and what the success rate is like. I ask because we have a couple State Parks that we bow hunt here in S.C. and even though the deer are everywhere the success rate is about 30% and it seems to get harder each year. These areas get pounded though for several weeks during these hunts. I was wondering if fewwer hunts a year may up the success rate.

Good Luck, get a big one.

Well good luck GMAN. Sometimes getting the shot is the hard part. After 2 years I'm sure you're well practiced enough to make it count.
