What are some of the brands of hard Handgun cases, other than Bear Track, being used? I have an Encore with a 16" barrel. I have been looking at the Pelican 1600 cases, but at over 8" deep they seem to be much deeper than what would be needed.

This is the case I have been using for years: http://www.straightshooters.com/cases/dos10505largepistolcase.htmlIt is 26"x14"x5-1/2" and sturdy. I wouldn't use it for air travel but it gets me to the range, camp, etc. This is how I was packed for this years deer camp: As you can see there is a lot of room for tools.
Rod, too.
Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

I don't travel by plane much so I don't have anything real fancy, I use the Plano plastic cases that hold 4 revolvers, they have an extra piece of foam to seperate the two pairs of guns. I have a nice aluminum case but it has winchesters name on it so I don't know who made it but for my single shots I use an aluminum "Ironite" take down shotgun case made by TZ case. http://www.tzcase.com/main/index.php?page=sport.php&stylesheet=sport.php&usertable=sports#

I have used a Kalispel case for many years and it works great. I took my handguns to Africa, Montana and Wyoming with never having to make any adjustments.

I use the Pelican cases for air travel but just use soft cases for back & forth to the range. For insurance I put duct tape over the latches so some idiot doesn't snap them off and of course the cases are pad locked.

I'd also recomend the Ace 'soft' case unless you do an awful lot of air travel.
It's not the gun, but the man behind it.
