Well as expected I was not intimitated by this bad boy. Yes, it does kick like a mule, but with proper technique it is quite easy to control. It started from 15 yards I was in the black bullseye but a few inches high. A few clicks later and at 50 yards, I was right on the money. I thought from all the posts I read about this pistol that it may fly out of my hands. I had no problem. I must say it is the most exhilirating pistol I have ever shot hands down. Friggin damn accurate too.

BFRs are great guns! What grips are on yours? I use SBH grip panel on my .454 BFR and it handles much better than the rubber grips. It looks better too!

Hey Pab: I just used the grips that came with the gun. I do have a pair of SBH's and Hogue's. I'll probably just change them around when I get bugs in my butt. The SBH do look good though.

All I can say is to try some of TonyV's .500 heavy loads--then tell me the gun is managable..... No thank you...I'll keep my braked M500 that kicks like a .44 but plunks the 440 Hard cast semi wadcutter over 38gr H110--slowest is 1675, fasted was 1715---not too shabby and loads of bang-plop for anything I'm hunting. The 350 Horandy goes out even better-- slowest was 1780 and fast was 1790fps for 5 shot--pretty awesome for me! Figure it out, anything this side a small tank is history! I can't wait to shoot something other than an average Pa doe!
PS- those loads are maximum but safe in my gun-use at your own risk. The 440 load is a CorBon load (supposedly)

What loads were you shooting out of that big boy? I have a .500 BFR and I love it. I shot it last weekend as a matter of fact. Technique is important that is for sure. It is fun to shoot and accurate to boot!

I do not think I would want to shoot or would need to shoot 440 grain bullets. I do think that would really be nasty on my wrists... I would try 440's just to say I did, but I don't think I would go heavier than 350 Grainers.

Thanks Tigger. Yes they do rock. I don't even get enjoyment shooting factory 44 mags anymore. I love the hard recoil from the cannons.

No thank you.... Thanks Dan. I'm sure there is a point where shooting this revolver would be uncontrolable. I am not planning on going there. I would not let any of my friends shoot this gun the way it kicks now. They probably would get a nasty head wound. I have bben shootind cannons for so long that the recoil is phased out by my concentration on my target. I guess that just came with time. However I would never think of shooting that idiotic 600 nitro. If anyone could handle it I think I could, but I wouldn't do it. Common sense is common sense.

Thanks Tigger. Yes they do rock. I don't even get enjoyment shooting factory 44 mags anymore. I love the hard recoil from the cannons. Load up some 440gr pills at full throttle and see if you like that recoil. LOL<LOL That's was the experience I had and it was unpleasant in the BFR. I don't mind heavy recoil as I have almost every big bore availabe, but that small gun and that load was more than I could enjoy. LOL<LOL

Ive shot the BFR in a full throttle 45-70 how much more does the 500 kick over that. Hardest recoiling gun ive shot to date was 375 jdj in a contender i had built by ssk before it became a factory round Ron
