What is the difference between regular 22 long rifle and 22 match barrels in contender barrel? Is there a difference in ammo?

It has regular .22LR-ammo. Chamber is tighter. Quality will be better.

With the match chamber the bullet will actually cut into the rifleing when you close the action. It is very tight.

sure......the TC 22lr match barrels are great. my 14" 22 match is for target and squirrel.

try various ammo's to see which will shoot best in your barrel. it should have a preference to get best accuracy.

As usual, KYODE is right on. I don’t see any negatives about using it for varmints. In fact I don’t think game will know the difference. With bulk Remington ammo my 22 Match LR will shoot a 1in at 100.

I know it is a long rifle, but is the best pic of a 22 I have. One was a 25yds and the other was at 100+yards. I was well pleased.

RUG1, you can't go wrong with the 22lr match. As TCMan stated, they're extremely accurate. As a matter of fact, (unless I'm bad wrong)if you order or buy a T/C 22lr, it will be the match chamber. The only way to get a standard chamber is to order one through their custom shop and it will cost more....Or you can get one from other custom shops.

If I'm wrong on this, somebody please chime in.

Thank you, I was concerned about ammo of different brands fitting in the chamber, this answers that for me.
Kral, on TC's website it does mention 22 lr match as the standard barrel. And that gun looks sweet.

i believe the earlier factory TC barrels may have came with a standard chamber. not sure when they went to producing the match chamber.
a 22lr is a great candidate for using a riflescope, since recoil is negligible. you can get some high magnification for target shooting made easier! will still work for hunting on low x's. imagine side resting against a tree with that short eye relief. that is one rest with lots of up/down adjustment...lol.
