I have an opportunity to trade a ruger M77 .270 with a redfield 3x9 widefield scope for a smith & wesson model 629 6" with a Leupold 2x scope. I think its a great deal, your thoughts?

As a owner of a 629, that would be a big HELLZYA! Sounds like a trade to me. A 629 with a Leupold is a pretty stout price new.

That would be a fair trade, you might be a little on the good side. But then, I am not a Smiffanatic.

The Classic is a fairly new version of the 629. I give you a thumbs up on your trade. I have a 29 Classic with a 5" barrel thats a keeper.
