Hi troops,

Happy "T" day.

I have a nice T/C Contender bbl in 375 Win. I know that a few of you have these. I want to practice with it a lot more but jacketed bullets are pretty spendy. A few local guys tell me that they use the 38-55 cast bullets from Lazer Cast and HML that are .379 with out any problem. I'm used to cast bullets 1-2 thousands over but 4 thousands seems a bit much. If you are using 38-55 cast what experiences have you had with them.

Thanks,

Bill in OR

Bill,

The real issue is, do you have a "tight" chamber. If it is tight, you may not be able to seat the loaded round completely into the chamber. I would borrow an 0.379 bullet from your friend and load a "dummy" round to check. Other commercial bullet casters have bullets sized 0.376 and 0.379. You may want to check them out (Midway USA, Beartooth Bullets, etc.). Additionally, the cast bullets are fine for hunting, if you find an accurate load.

Regards,
Doc

I am shooting .377 sized - 264gr HCGC ( http://www.moyerscastbullets.com/pricelist.html ) out of my Custom Shop 375 Win. They are holding a 5 shot one inch group at 100.

My Lyman manual states/lists that all the cast bullets were sized to .377 for the 375 Win. It did list this for the 38-55... “Many 38-55 caliber rifles show wide variations in groove diameters. Some older rifles measure as large as .382.” Since the 375 Win came out 94 years latter, I think they may have standardized the bore size. LOL Hope this helps.
