Thanks for all the input on scopes for handguns. Now how do you carry one all day? Anyone got any suggestions on holsters. I currently carry my 44 in a Uncle mikes and love it. Carrying a scoped one is probably going to take some getting used to.

Rod, too.
Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

+1 on the pistol packaging. I use their Bandito on my large scoped handguns.

The Bandito shoulder belt and Bandito holster looks like a nice setup, I would buy one at the drop of a hat if it wasnt leather. Id love to find something similar in a synthetic material that can be kept scent free.

Id love to find something similar in a synthetic material that can be kept scent free. Heck, one of the things I love about leather is the smell!! Besides, those deer will think it's just an old beef cow :-) Seriously, I'm not a whitetail hunter, & I know they are sharp. But, I have to wonder, which has more scent? A leather holster or a handgun? I don't think you can ever get a handgun to be scent free. I'm a traditional bow hunter so I understand needing to get close, scent control, etc. BUT, trad bow hunters have been using leather for a few thousand years. The fronteirsmen in our nation with fairly short range weapons used it extensively (and more than a few starved ;-) Hmmm.. maybe you are on to something.). I think we need to be carefull of scent, but I believe the whole scent control industry has simply become big business. Fred Bear & the boys hung around the campfire, eating bacon & smoking pipes in their wool & leather & then went out & poked stuff at 10-15 (and sometimes 85) yds simply by being wind wise. All that said, I understand that every advantage helps & some people aren't in love with leather. A synthetic option I hear good things about is Quiethide http://qh-holsters.com/I just love leather :-)

+3 on the pistol packaging. I use their Bandito on my large scoped handgun. It's a nice peice of workmanship; especially for the price.

I do realize that guys did it back in the day, but I see scent control as an advantage, and I just try to use it as best I can, even though you can never get rid of all of it.

Fact is you've probably killed more critters than I have (and I DON"T mean that sarcasticly) so I'm sure not going to knock your system! I have some bowhunter friends that focus on whitetail & are quite successful that follow the same pattern you do. They look at me funny for wearing leather boots. Works for them!
Check out the Quiethide. May be just what you are looking for.

I like the Pistol Packaging Bandito holster as well. For a non leather option I have the Bianchi Ranger HuSH System - Scoped for my 9.5" 480 SRH. Works great. Here is a link to the Bianchi page. Bianchi Hush system

Funny you mention bowhunters lol. Thats why I do my scent routine. One of the reasons I picked up the handgun for hunting is that I figure its more of a challenge than rifle or shotgun. I love bow hunting, but it sure is nice to be able to reach out there and get a crack at some of those deer that stayed just out of my range in bow season lol.

I'm looking at a Quiet Hide now to put on a belt rig. Got the idea from these learned gents. The Bandito didn't work for me. I gave a Bandolier style holster to a friend as a gift. It was from Idaho Leather (synthetic version though). He loves the thing. When I got it I was impressed w/the work.

Got a pistol packaging, don't care for the way it fits me. Got an old Unc Mike's blk nylon that I prefer. (modified it from a cross strap to a bandoleer)
It's not the gun, but the man behind it.
