It sounds like your barrel is SO tight on the frame that it isn't locking up!?! You may have to send it back to TC to have them fix the problem.

How many barrels have you put on the frame?

One frame is new. Just bought it a few months ago. I have fitted and shot two barrels on it. Also have an older frame I bought used. The same two barrels and the 45x209 mzl barrel has been fit to it. I bought the barrel in question used. The guy said he never had problems with it.

Hi,
Don't know if you are a memeber of Specialty Pistols forum or not but, if you shoot any single shot pistol I would highly recommend it. Just google it to join. Real nice group of guys just like the ones here at HH. They have hsd several posts about barrel frame fit. Just ask your question or do a search under single shot pistol section. I don't shoot Encores just Contenders but have not had a question yet they couldn't answer. A lot are like me members of both forums. I like that name 223AIfan. Just bought a 223 AI OTT Contender barrel and am having a ball with it already. Hope this helps.
Safe shooting
Doug

Guys, guess what??? Not a barrel or frame problem. I was looking closely comparing the barrel in question to my 243 barrel and noticed the problem. It the new MGM base in the 308 barrel. Its a few thousands too long at the rear of the base not allowing lock up. Took the base off and NO PROBLEM. Thanks for the help. I'll be calling them Monday morning for sure. Hate this happened because our gun season will re-open Wed. I was going to work loads up tomorrow.

Doug, found the site earlier tonight trying to find answers. Thanks for the heads up.

Gently file the base (off the barrel) until the barrel fits the frame and then use black nail polish to cover the new metal area. That will get you hunting.

I thought about using my Dremel but didn't want to take a Dremel to a base like that. I'll call the tomorrow and see if they will send me another. My post said Monday. Goes to show you what time off does to the mind. For some reason today has been Sunday again for me. If they will get me another one out really cheap I'll keep this one too and make it work.

Yep, I am enjoying them. Took the big doe a few weeks ago that I texted you about. Taken two with a 45x209 Encore in the last few days. They are chasing here now. Wednesday morning I'll have the 243 with me again. Looking to get rid of a couple more rifles this week and a McMillan A5 stock I WAS going have a build put together with it. If I can figure out how to stand hunt comfortably with a handgun I'll really be dangerous.

You'll figure it out.
