I picked up a bulk box of the 240 gr Noslers for a song from Midway USA a while back. My primary intent was target loads to familiarize myself with my then new 44 mag SBH and my even newer 44 mag Taurus Tracker. Needless to say, after firing off a few shots of these 240s loaded on H-110, you can understand why I got to thinkin' 'this load will kill a deer DRT!' (dead right there). After firing a cylinder of these loads, I realized these guns both liked that load far more then I was capable of shooting them, which was kinda the whole point. My tracker is my constant companion in the woods, but it's normally loaded with 300 gr Swift A Frames for any unruly black bears I might meet.

After seeing a similar post about 240 gr Remingtons, and seeing a bullet that Gary recovered from a cow elk, I'm very interested in using my 240gr Noslers. Anyone have any experience with them on blackbear, deer, or elk?

Thanks!

Broadside shots only I'm thinking. W/that they're probably great.

I shot a whitetail this yr. with my 460 using the 260 gr. Partitions. Passed right through it with a nice size exit wound.

I wouldn't use the 240 JHP on anything but deer, the JSP would handle the rest. Let me be clear, I didn't set off to use the Remington JHP on an elk but it turned into an elk hunt after I got to the ranch. I was impressed with the performance of the bullet but I was very careful with shot placement, much like a bow hunter. I would have to shoot more large game with the Rem. before I would recommend it for elk but as you saw, it did the job when the potential shortcomings were taken into account. I think the Swift's are a great all-around choice.

Gary, thanks for the reply. I don't mind dropping the coin for the Swifts since I don't need shoot them that often, but it would have been nice to hunt with the practice load. Thanks for the additional information!
